The logo on the front of a soccer jersey is more than just a design choice - it’s a symbol of identity, pride, and commercial power. For fans, the crest represents loyalty and history, connecting generations through a shared passion, while for clubs and sponsors, it’s prime real estate for marketing that could be worth big money. Iconic jerseys like FC Barcelona’s classic red-and-blue stripes featuring the Nike swoosh and the Qatar Airways logo, or Manchester United’s long association with Sharp and later Chevrolet, show how logos can define an era. Real Madrid’s partnership with Adidas and Emirates is another example - instantly recognizable worldwide and synonymous with prestige.

For professional clubs, choosing the right logo means balancing tradition with financial opportunity; it must reflect the club’s values while appealing to fans and global markets alike. In essence, the logo becomes part of the team’s story - worn proudly on and off the field. The same is true for small soccer clubs like ARSC. We depend on sponsors to keep soccer affordable and accessible to our community. At the same time, our players, parents, and fans deserve a jersey and logo that look amazing and represent everything that ARSC stands for.
For our inaugural season, we were searching for an extra special logo and jersey combo. Something that not only looked phenomenal, but also carried with it a memorable story. Just such an opportunity found us when one of our club's founders asked if we could make a jersey that honored her late grandpa, Elbert Findley, by using his VW repair shop as the sponsor. What follow's is a narrative by Elbert's daughter, along with the evolution of the logo and final jerseys. We think they came out better than we could have imagined, and our club is honored to preserve Elbert's memory on and off the pitch.
Honoring My Dad Through the Ashley River Soccer Club Jerseys
When it came time to decide on a logo for the Ashley River Soccer Club, my heart immediately led me to my late Daddy, Elbert Perry Findley. It wasn’t just a nod to my childhood; it was a tribute to a man who embodied the best qualities one could hope for in a parent and a role model. Choosing his automotive shop as the logo symbolizes so much more than just a business; it represents values that have shaped who I am today.

From a young age, my daddy demonstrated the true meaning of hard work. He poured his heart and soul into his shop, tirelessly dedicated to providing for our family. Watching him work not only instilled in me a sense of responsibility, but also taught me the importance of perseverance. In the small town of Richmond Hill, GA where success can sometimes feel out of reach, he showed me that consistency and determination can take you far.

Honesty and integrity were cornerstones of Daddy’s philosophy. He believed in doing things the right way, even when it was difficult. Every customer who came into his shop knew they could trust him, whether they were in need of a simple tire change or a complicated repair on their VW bug. His straightforward approach to life taught me that there is immense value in being honest and treating others with respect.
But beyond his work ethic, it was the unconditional love he had for my mom, 3 siblings and myself that truly defined him as a father. I was a proud daddy’s girl, and my childhood was filled with laughter, warmth, and affection. I reminisce about all the silly songs he would sing to me, the funny jokes that never failed to make me laugh. Those memories are not just fond; they are the foundation of who I’ve become.
Choosing to feature my daddy’s automotive shop as the logo for the ARSC soccer jerseys honors his legacy in. Every time the players put on their jerseys, they carry with them a piece of his spirit. It’s a reminder to work hard, to be honest, and above all, to support one another like a family.

As I watch the kids hit the field, I feel his presence with me. I hope that, in these moments, the younger players are inspired not just by the game but by the values my daddy stood for. My father may no longer be here physically, but his influence will forever be woven into the fabric of Ashley River Soccer Club.
This is not merely a logo on a shirt; it’s a tribute to a man who gave everything to his family. Every laugh, every embrace, and every lesson he imparted will remain etched in my heart forever. As I watch the Ashley River Soccer Club grow, I take pride in knowing that they carry forward a legacy of hard work, honesty, respect, and everlasting love. Just like my daddy taught me, we are stronger together, and I will always be proud to say that I am his daughter.
